Executing a safety awareness or action campaign is a successful way of ensuring an immediate positive effect upon safety statistics and injury rates. Campaigns can be used to raise awareness of an issue or hazard, maintain a cultural change, share and instil values and beliefs, make employees think about safety and the effects of dangerous practices. Please do not hesitate to contact us and we’d be more than happy to discuss ideas.
Safety Leadership Improvement
Strong leadership is vital when working towards safety excellence. Employers have a moral and legal responsibility to provide a safe working environment and in order to do so must instil core safety values and beliefs in to their work force. This must start with a management who continually set examples and demonstrate the importance of safety by the difference in their reactions to both safe and unsafe behaviour. The Greenyear team guide and support top tier management in establishing their organizational values and a method of effective safety leadership.
Management and Meeting Structure
Achieving safety excellence requires a fluid safety management structure with clearly defined roles and responsibilities. Failure to provide this level of organisation results in a break down in communication and frustration. An effective meeting structure which filters safety information throughout the management layers and creates a domino effect in achieving goals requires productive meetings at all levels. A meeting should educate all parties about safety issues, be a forum to discuss pertinent safety concerns, resolve problems, act as a two-way communication and instil a safety ethos.
The Greenyear team can help you establish your most effective management structure, establish clear roles and responsibilities, set out a meeting structure and coach employees on how to get the best from meeting and how to structure them.
The setting of safety standards provides formal guidance and documentation throughout an organization. Safety standards can formulate an organisations H&S handbook and cover all issues. Often considered a step-by-step improvement some organizations implement a few standards each year based upon their level of risk. Some examples are:
- Risk Assessment – including need analysis and hazard identification
- Permit to Work
- Driving on Company Business
- Internal Health and safety Reporting
- Ionising radiation and radioactive substances
- Working at Height
- Panel of Enquiry
- Safe Working Procedures
- Managing the Health and safety of Contractors – including qualification and framework
- The Control of Legionella in Water Systems
- On-site Traffic
- Dealing with Stress
- Fire Management
- Control of Substances Hazardous to Health
Our team of experts can help you with all of the above. Staff training on all standards is also advised and provided by our team of trainers.
Corporate & internal reporting
Internal reporting processes whether they be for accident/incident data or dangerous occurrences such as unsafe conditions and behaviour, if managed correctly provide management with a clear picture of the organizations strengths and weaknesses. The reporting of unsafe conditions can play a large part in accident prevention and enable improvements to be carried out as and when required.
The Greenyear experts are able to assist you in creating systems to achieve your reporting goals.
Recruitment of H&S Experts
Recruiting a safety expert who can hit the ground running and understand your business needs is a difficult task. We at Greenyear are more than familiar with this challenge and as a result offer a recruitment service to clients. We do not hold a large bank of experts because our aim is to select those we feel offer a cutting edge and sensible approach to modern day safety. Our rule is that we would not recommend anybody who we would not be eager to recruit ourselves.
If you are searching for a safety expert please do not hesitate to contact us for an informal chat. We would be more than willing to recommend a level to which you should be looking to recruit dependant upon your business needs and if you like we can find them, interview them and make the necessary introductions.
